What to do in case of toothache?

  • Wash vigorously with warm water.
  • Use dental floss to remove any food stuck between your teeth.
  • If there is swelling, place a cold compress on the outside of the cheek.
  • Do not use anything hot or put medication on the aching tooth or gum.
  • Go to the dentist as soon as possible.

What to do with objects stuck between your teeth?

  • Try to remove the object with dental floss. Guide the floss carefully to avoid injuring the gum.
  • If you cannot remove the object, see a dentist.
  • Do not attempt to remove the object with a sharp or pointed instrument.

How to deal with baby teeth or missing teeth?

  • Take the child and the tooth to a dentist immediately.
  • Place the tooth in a container with milk, salt water or the child's saliva.
  • If these are not available, use water.
  • If you cannot see a dentist right away.
  • Lightly rinse the tooth in warm water. Do not touch the root.
  • For baby tooth: Do not try to put a baby tooth back in the socket. Put it in cold milk or water and take it with you when you go to the dentist.
  • For permanent tooth: Carefully insert the tooth back into place.
  • See your dentist, if possible, within the next 30 minutes.

What to do when a tooth breaks?

  • Gently remove dirt or tooth fragments from the injured area and clean with warm water.
  • Place cold compress on the face where the injured tooth is to minimize swelling.
  • See a dentist immediately.
  • Apply pressure directly to the bleeding area using a clean cloth.
